Hocus Pocus
by PamFord Davis "Boo!" I hate it when someone appears out of nowhere. No, I'm not speaking of an illusionist; there is no hocus pocus implied. I'm referring to times when someone enters my space but I had not heard him or her coming. They nearly scare me out of my skin. If we sense the danger of a stranger watching or following us, we panic. Doris Day and Rex Harrison co-starred in the 1960 suspense thriller, "Midnight Lace." With heart racing, she hurried through fog-filled London streets. She heard the menacing sound of footsteps. Terrified, yet, she could not help but wish her stalker would come out of the fog and reveal their identity. "Show yourself!" Moses' fear of God was a reverential fear. He asked God to show Himself, in all His glory. God continued the conversation. "Then He said, 'I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you, I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.' But He said, 'You cannot see My face (Exodus 33:19-20a NKJ)." We see the perfect image of the Father in His Son.
