Left on the Seat!
by Bolaji O.Timothy The audience was in anticipation. The crowd heard the reputation of the speaker invited, and they flooded the venue. They were all seated in the auditorium expecting the introduction and prestigious wisdom of the invited speaker. Some have had personal encountered with him. Some heard him speak before, while some only heard from others about him; but they were all in anticipation. The hour came, the preliminaries activities were ended. Then moved forward for the former introduction of the invited speaker is the master in charge of programme. He came forward, arranged his voice, he was to introduce the speaker formerly, but he had much to tell the audience about himself, exploit, gifts and achievement. These all, he struggled to explain until the time wind out. The invited speaker sat there calmly. People went out of the place furiously. Some vowed never to honour such invitation again and only some loyal did waited till the master in charge of programme (MCP) rounded up his unsolicited and unexpected speech. You can judge If the programme was a success. We most times are guilty of this offence in many churches( denomination) we had lost many converts and many willing souls have come and were disappointed because the speaker, who has the wisdom to answer disturbing questions in the minds of men , who know the aching wounds and the part and the right application of balm of Gilead, who know the position of the heart of men , it state and craving, is left most of the time seating while we sing and preach about ourselves, gifts, exploits and gift. We had left out the Holy spirit in our mission of reaching out to the souls of men. Yet men are anticipating, they love to hear the truth. The news about our exploits, gift, and achievement can only confirm the truth, in humility, if they know not the truth then there is no need to confirm what they are ignorant off. It appears that we will allow him to speak to our congregation; He is sitting calmly, waiting until the time wind out. Many congregations had kept him awaiting months, years, and decades. And by this , the God head is kept on the seat, the host of heaven are idle in our congregations; having nothing to do among us, because we had thought of speaking about ourselves and traditions than allow him to talk to us and meet the ever anticipating souls . We have kept God, the Son and the Holy Spirit too long on the seat waiting for us to invite them to the pulpit or podium where he can bless the souls of men, but we keep him waiting and waiting. How many new comers have visited our various auditoriums? Many of these are real seekers of the truth, but each time they come, we had probably kept the Holy spirit on the seat, if some of us had not banished him from our congregation. And we prayed for revival that will never come in His absence. The spirit of revival is kept outside our pulpit that is why the pulpits are too cold. They produce no heat great enough to melt the hardness of sin in the hearts of men because we had kept the spirit of Truth always on seat to watch us display our songs, teaching and preaching the power of our education and gift. Sometimes we had directly and indirectly told him to his face "we do not need your assistance now, we'll call you where we dim it fit. Stay out or sit there" While Jesus Christ was going, he said " and when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement of sin because they believe not on me. Of righteousness because I go to my father and ye see me no more; of judgement because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say, unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. How beit, when he, the spirit of truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth; for he shall not speak of himself and he will shew you things to come, he shall glorify me for he shall receive of mine and shall shew it unto you. We are losing all we should have learnt from the ministry of Holy sprit. We are losing a great deal! The masters in charge of programmes in this generation should really learn how to get the Holy spirit right back into their congregations, if banished or invite him to the pulpit, if still kept seating, else you may loss much crowd than ever before, or your congregation may be more just like club houses, and your over all score at the end of the whole show may be failed!
