Satan's Request to God on You
by Bola Olu-Jordan

Jesus gave Peter a shocking revelation: Satan had requested permission from God to destroy him. What a strange request!

This tells us that Satan cannot do anything to a believer without obtaining permission from God, or from the believer. We see that confirmation in Job where Satan requested God for permission to afflict him. Remember, Jesus said not even a strand of your hair can fall to the ground without God's knowledge (Mat.10:29-31). Every affliction that a believer passes through is not without God's knowledge. He doesn't afflict, but He permits it, sometimes, for His purpose and glory (Job 1:12).

Several times, God told Israel He had given them a city, but still asked them to go and fight to posses it. Why should they fight to posses what had already been given? Why did Jesus prayed for Peter that his 'faith fail not', instead of praying for his escape from Satan's request to have him?

It is easy to give solutions to peoples' problems instead of dealing with the root of the problem. It is like giving fish to a hungry man instead of teaching him how to fish. Jesus knew that if Peter's faith did not fail, he would continually defeat the enemy, not just that once.

Many preachers simply provide easy way-out to people's problems instead of strengthening their faith in Jesus. Little wonder Jesus asked, when He comes, would He find faith on the earth. (Luke 18:8b). It is faith that defeats the world, Satan, sin and flesh.

Jesus did not pray for Peter to overcome, but rather that his faith would not fail. You will always be dependent on the person that prays for you for a solution to a problem. This is why commercial prophets proliferate. But your faith in Jesus will make you overcome forever.

Remember, Satan is making request to God concerning you: to sift you as wheat. But Jesus had prayed for you, that your faith will not fail.

Do not give Satan any chance in your life like Judas did, and he was sifted like a wheat. Do not be afraid of your challenges, it's the ranting of a roaring lion. Jesus is the real Lion [of Judah] and he has conquered. Your faith will not fail in Jesus name.

"And when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." (Luke 22:32)
