Father's Heart
by PamFord Davis

My grandson cried out, "You don't love me!" He was hurt and angry and out of control. I had said no to something he wanted; in his mind, that equated to absence of love. His cries and the disappointment in his eyes broke Granny's heart. He could not have been farther from the truth. On other occasions when he misbehaved, I corrected him. Love is sometimes hard to detect.

"I correct and punish everyone I love (Revelation 3:19a CEV)." The Lord's love for us is unconditional; yet, love seeks the best for a person. A loving parent or grandparent restricts or reprimands, knowing when something is harmful for a child. We do not see the Father's heart when we cry out, "You don't love me!"
