The Lord's Flowers

LEN'S LINES -- A Little Religion On A Positive Note By Len Granger

When we think of the beautiful flowers the Lord has provided for our enjoyment, we realize if we cut them for our wife or sweetheart they will soon fade. The flowers show our expression of the wonderful love we share with those we love.

As Christians, we also have a church family that watches over us and prays with us to our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whenever we experience physical, material or spiritual difficulties in our lives. A much greater love is given to us by our protector and the one whom loved us first, our Lord Jesus Christ.

We see in Bible, Isaiah40, verse 8, " The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, but the word of our God shall stand forever". His love for us is like no other brother we will ever know.

The other day my sister in law and I visited the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery , which is close by our farm, and put flowers on our spouses graves for Valentines Day. It was a beautiful sunny warm day and the freshly mowed green grass sparkled. We saw several visitors arranging flower displays on their loved ones gravesites. After we placed our flowers we walked among the white gravestones and saw an elderly man sitting on a folding chair praying before his wife's tombstone.

We stopped and talked to him as we noticed he had a large basket filled with beautiful flowers of all colors. This man from Sacramento said he was 89 and had been a widower for last nine years, He comes to the cemetery on a sunny day each week to place flowers on graves around the cemetery. Says he meets people from all over the area and gets to share friendly conservation and speak of the Lord's Gospel as he witnesses to those he comes in contact. This is his Christian ministry and is very happy serving the Lord; he added, "He might just meet a widow". We gave him a copy of Len's Lines, the book recently published that is filled with the newspaper columns, and he thanked us as he glanced through the weekly stories.

It was a wonderful time spent at the cemetery and we realized how many ways Christians can be the Lord's servant and serve Him if we only pray and let Him guide us.

Pray this Sunday we will all be in the Lord's House, the church of our choice, worshiping and praising our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God Bless America
