We Find the Defendant Guilty
by PamFord Davis

"We find the defendant guilty." A courtroom scene ends with the expected climax; all circumstantial evidence pointed to the guilt of the accused. Under conviction, outwardly and within, the defendant awaits sentencing by the judge.

"For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth to me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews10:30-31 KJV-Pilgrim Study Bible)." As sinners, we seek God's grace and mercy.

Mercy is abundant. We serve a holy God; yet, he is our merciful Father. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23 KJV-Pilgrim Study Bible)." Jesus took our death sentence. (1 Peter 2:24)
