Sinkholes
by PamFord Davis

Sinkholes are hard to ignore. I've never seen one up close; seeing them on newscasts, I admit they not only make me curious, they scare me. Community landscape is scarred; people lose homes and personal property. Recently, a sinkhole took the life of an occupant in a house that disappeared. In contrast to curiosity and fright, in confidence I make a commitment to the rock.

"I LOVE Thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge (Psalm 18:1-2 a NAS)." If a sinkhole gets my attention, I sense the importance of making the solid rock my focal concern. He is my firm foundation, protector and deliverer.
