Intently
by PamFord Davis It's baseball season; fans sit in the stands or at home in their favorite chairs. Loyal supporters look intently around the baseball diamond; they eye the bases, pitcher's mound and home. They try to read the mind of the umpire. Waving team banners, they demonstrate their loyalty to their favorite team. Am I as committed to looking intently into the Bible jewel? "But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effective doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does (James 1:25 NAS)." Too often, I look briefly at Bible passages; I seek renewed diligence and commitment to look intently into the word with loyalty to my Lord.
