Way Back Yonder
by PamFord Davis

Do you remember the parental correction of washing a child's mouth out with soap? Way back yonder, if a youngster sassed their mother, father, or teacher, they received swift punishment. Parents were shocked when they heard cuss words from their progenies. "I'll wash your mouth out with soap!"

In today's tolerant society, psychologists might say children are merely expressing themselves; parents would be guilty of child abuse if they carried through with the threat of washing out a child's mouth with soap. I'm so thankful that the LORD washes out my heart! "Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin (Psalms 51:2 Pilgrim Study Bible)."
