Ole Slew Foot
by PamFord Davis

"Are you back, again?" Just when you think the devil is off your case, he shows up and camps out in your back yard. "Excuse me, who invited you?" I guess he never read the bestseller books on proper etiquette. Ole Slew Foot thinks he is free to come and go as he pleases. Satan left the wilderness after Jesus overcame temptation. The tempter went away, but only for the time being

"And Jesus answered and said to him, 'It is said, 'YOU SHALL NOT FORCE A TEST ON THE LORD YOUR GOD.' And when the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time (Luke 4:12-13 NAS)." Oops, do I unknowingly give the devil opportunities? Is he lurking in the darkness waiting for me to leave a door open? He never knocks before entering; instead, he slithers inside with sin.

"BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity (Ephesians 4:26-27 NAS)." He never lets an opportunity slip past him!
