God's Spoken Affirmation
by PamFord Davis

We pay little attention to stage production spotlights. We would be more likely to note their absence; yet, the spotlight focuses our attention on the leading character. Directors, in particular, want stagehands to flood the stage as curtains open for final bows. "Bravo!" I visualize God the Father directing the scene as John the Baptist baptized Jesus.

"As soon as Jesus came up out of the water, he saw heaven opening and the Spirit coming down on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven. 'You are my own dear Son. I am pleased with you (Mark 1:10-11 TEV)." The ascending Holy Spirit supersedes man's spotlights and God's spoken affirmation glorified his Son.
