Fireside
by PamFord Davis

Americans gathered around radios, preparing to listen to their leader, President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Through mass communication, he shared fireside chats. Though he spoke from the White House in the nation's capital, people experienced the intimacy of having him in their own homes. Jesus drew his disciples near for a morning fireside chat.

"When they landed, they saw a charcoal fire all made and a fish lying on it; also some bread. Jesus said to them, 'Fetch some of the fish you have just caught.' So Simon Peter got into the boat, and pulled the net ashore, full of big fish, a hundred and fifty-three; and though they were many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, 'Come and have breakfast (John 21:9-12a Williams NT)."
