Intense Scrutiny
by PamFord Davis

Not only royals, entertainers, athletes and politicians face scrutiny. People are watching us; they decide if what we believe is in line with how we live. Does my demeanor match my desire to reflect the matchless character of Christ Jesus? The Prophet Samuel opened up his life to intense scrutiny. He had served God since he was a young boy; as an old man, he heeded Israel's demands and appointed Saul as their King. (1 Samuel 12:1-2)

"Here I am; bear witness against me before the LORD, and His anointed. Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I taken a bribe to blind my eyes with it? I will restore it to you.' And they said, 'You have not defrauded us, or oppressed us, or taken anything from any man's hand (1 Samuel 12:3-4 NAS)." He had diligently fulfilled God's call upon his life.
