Prayer Is Powerful

We see in the Bible where if we pray and believe, we often see our prayers are answered if it is the will of our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He tells us in Matthew 21:22, " And all things whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

Recently, I was admitted to a military hospital for a procedure for a few days. During my stay in a two bed room , I often spoke with the other patient and we discussed the power of prayer. He was on active duty, 39 years of age, and he and his wife had a 16 year old son. Over the years they have wanted another child but the doctors told his wife several times that she could never have a baby again. She prayed that the Lord would allow her another child if it was His will and never gave up praying.

After a few years her husband underwent a vasectomy as he began to accept the fact they would never have another child. However, his wife never stopped praying and dreamed how the little baby girl would look like the Lord was going to give her. She would pray in the name our Lord Jesus Christ as it says in the Bible to reach God the father. We see God's phone number in Jeremiah 33:3 as it reads," Call unto me and I will answer thee, show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." His wife never gave up with constant prayers as the years passed.

My new friend told his wife he would have the vasectomy reversed as he joined his wife in prayer eight years ago for the new baby. The doctors told him that after ten years the reversal operation would not be effective. After a couple months his sperm check was negative as the doctors had predicted but the prayers did not stop. His wife's doctor told her there was no improvement in her condition that had prevented her from becoming pregnant.

His wife knew God preformed miracles and wives became pregnant in Bible stories, Genesis 21-2, " For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God has spoken to him." Wow, prayer is powerful as we have seen in our Christian lives over and over , however, it would really be a touch of God's Hand to overcome all the obstacles.

After telling me this story about the prayer, his wife arrived for a visit and she was pushing a carriage with a beautiful baby girl that will be one year old in a couple weeks. His wife added her comments to the prayer story and I could see a very happy married couple with their second child smiling and waving at me. What a Blessing the Lord had given this wonderful family who never gave up the Hope, Trust, and Faith we have in our Lord.

Trust we will be in the church of our choice this Sunday worshiping our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God Bless America
