Put A Button On It
by Sonja Burketh I find reading different translations of the Holy Bible to be very enlightening. They have a way of making certain passages plain and clear. Im a firm believer; the more plain the instruction, the easier the application. Keep your mouth closed and you'll stay out of trouble Proverbs 21:23 from the Living Bible is one of those scriptures. Theres nothing worse than someone who cant hold their tongue. We all know or have heard of someone who suffered ill fate due to run away mouth. Something that could have been avoided had someone kept their mouth shut. Words spoken that cant be taken back. Lies, rumors and bad advice are all the unfortunate results of an indiscriminate tongue. When the truth finally does surface, the damage is sometimes irreparable to themselves as well as others. Reputations and trust are hard to regain. The referenced scripture is what I consider to be practical and useful daily. The Bible is full of them. Especially the book of Proverbs. I often recommend that if you only read one book of the Bible, make it a modern translation of the book of Proverbs. All of us could use more practical advice in these trying times. The older I become the more Im convinced that knowledge easily applied and useful for every day is some of the best you can get.
