KINGDOM PRINCIPLES- Introduction
by Demilade Eni-O'fe Omoniyi

The Kingdom of God is beyond description in human words, and so are its principles of operation. But in an attempt to make us catch a glimpse of this glory even while on earth, Jesus Christ often taught [and still teaches] in parables. To enhance our [limited] understanding, He often tells stories and relate them to matters of the Kingdom. Here are some instances:

"Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?" (Luke 13:18, KJV)

"Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed,...." (Matt. 13:31, KJV)

You can go on and on finding out sentences such as these in the gospels. One thing is however peculiar to them all, and should be well noted: all parables and illustrations remain a comparison or resemblance of the reality- God's kingdom. In other words, they are not able to capture perfectly what operates in the kingdom [nothing human can anyway].
Therefore, the truth gathered from these parables should never be taken as all about the kingdom. Some truth will actually remain a mystery until the 'New Jerusalem' is established.

"The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law" (Deut. 29:29, KJV)

This should not drive us into despair. We must continue to search the Scriptures to dig out more and more about the expectation of the King of the Kingdom. The more we search, the more He reveals, the more we know and ultimately, the more we obey and please Him.

"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter." (Prov. 25:2, KJV)

In a bid to please Him by searching out on the matter of the Kingdom, due diligence must be paid to Christ's teachings, especially His parables and illustrations. In them lie the principles by which things operate in God's kingdom. As a matter of fact, only those who have found out how to live by the Kingdom principles can live there eternally. You wouldn't travel to a country without first finding out some do's and dont's of the land, else you risk being jailed and deported. To become a permanent resident of God's kingdom, you must learn the principles He has presented us here on earth.
In this series, and many subsequent series an exposition on these core principles are highlighted. Please read along with a Spirit-filled heart. Shalom!
