2 Timothy 3:10

2 Timothy 3:10

But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

1."But thou hast fully known "

a. Timothy was already a disciple when Paul came through Lystra on the second missionary journey. This means of course he got saved when Paul was there during the first missionary journey, recorded in Acts 14:8-20. God moved mightily during that time in Lystra, healing a man who was a cripple from birth (Acts 14:8-10), and raising Paul after he was stoned. Timothy must have heard or seen these things. Timothy was aware of Paul's doctrine, manner of life and so on.

b. fully known [3877 * parakoloutheo; para-near; akoloutheo-to follow] [Zodhiates: To accompany side by side, follow closely, attend to carefully.]

1). The definition of this word is illustrated by the following passage.

a). Acts 16:1-5 Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:
Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.
Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.
And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

b). Timothy "fully knew" Paul personally, he accompanied Paul side by side, following closely and attending to him as he taught and ministered and he witnessed churches being established in the faith and increasing in numbers daily.

2. "my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,"

c. doctrine [1319 * didaskalia] [Zodhiates: Teaching or instruction.]

d. manner of life [72 * agoges] [Zodhiates: A way of life, the manner of leading or spending life.]

e. longsuffering [3115 * makrothumia] [Zodhiates: Forebearance, long-suffering, self-restraint before leading to action.]

f. charity [26 * agape] [Zodhiates: Love].

g. patience [5281 * hupomone] [Zodhiates: A bearing up under, patience, endurance as to things or circumstances.]
