Burn Pile
by PamFord Davis

Country living has its advantages and disadvantages. It may not be permissible in cities to burn leaves or tree limbs on personal property. Residents instead have to bag their leaves and limbs. Step two is either toting bags to the curb for sanitation pickup or driving it themselves to a landfill. Country dwellers use burn piles; the piles may be an eyesore but they are practical. I for one like the smell of burning leaves and tree limbs.

The Lord God sorts through the works of his children. What happens in his burn pile? "If anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw, each one's works will become obvious, for the day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire; the fire will test the quality of each one's work. If anyone's work that he has built survives, he will receive a reward (1 Corinthians 3:12-14 HCS)." "Well done?" (Matthew 25:21)
