Fifth Sunday Sings
by PamFord Davis Singing is so popular in Southern churches that we schedule 5th Sunday sings. I have known of some churchgoers who reminisce about big crowds at all night sings. Yearly, homecoming and harvest day celebrations feature guest gospel singers or choirs from sister churches. As an extra incentive, the host church offers refreshments in their fellowship-hall. Singing is therapeutic and scriptural. "When you meet together, sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, as you praise the Lord with all your heart. Always use the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to thank God the Father for everything (Ephesians 5:19-20 CEV)." Many of the Psalms are praise and thanks offerings suitable for either narration or singing. Do not worry about staying on key. Sing from your heart. "Forget the voice exercise of "me-me-me-me." It is all about "him-him-him-him!"
