I LOVE MY WIFE!
by SIXTUS ONYEANUSI IT'S GOD THAT HAS KEPT US SO FAR! I LOVE MY WIFE. I LOVE MY HUSBAND. Once young lovers and young couples We've been together for long We've seen good times, been through troubles Yet still united by the Lord It's been agape love in us; That working of grace in our hearts Which Comes from d'Presence of Jesus That has kept us strong in this path! When we hear God's word together We see ways to help our marriage Then we kneel as one in prayer For the grace to improve and change! I love my wife like my body She is my friend, mother, my own With her I share secret burdens Her words speak courage to my soul I love my husband, he's my head Through him I see more of the Lord My counselor, father and friend He loves and builds me with the word I love my wife, tender and meek Though may not be as strong as me Yet I count it not that she's weak She has strength, beauty untold within Do we see faults and offenses? Do we see flaws and weaknesses? We do! But no room for grudges We choose the path of forgiveness! ************************************************************ A husband who can still boldly say, I love my wife" must have been spiritually mature enough to overlook her weaknesses and loved her anyway, even as Christ loved the Church. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;" (Ephesians 5:25). A Christian marriage is not without flaws. It is God's love agape richly within the couples through the Spirit of Jesus, that covers the multitude of faults, and it is His Word that still unites the hearts against all odds together in love and mercy, forgiveness in holy fear, sense of covenant, duty, and above all, with the view of eternity in Heaven. The uniqueness and peculiarity of Christian marriage is that the Spirit of God lives in both to correct and encourage them through the matrimonial journey to Heavenward.
