Spiritual Sloth
by PamFord Davis

"You lazy, good for nothin' bum!" That would really hurt my feelings. I do not want others to think of me as lazy. I admit I do not have the ambition and energy I had in my twenties. Give me a break; my Medicare kicks in this May! I definitely do not want the LORD to diagnose me with the dreaded disease of spiritual sloth. He has called me to work in his kingdom. I need zeal and commitment to serve, in order to slay the dragon of sloth.

"I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
And lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travaileth; and thy want as an armed man (Proverbs 24:30-34 KJV)."
