Heed the Warnings
by PamFord Davis

I've studied driver's manuals; I've driven on winding roads. All drivers need to observe warning signs and heed what we read. The greater the crooked turns are in a road, the more danger behind the wheel. Some curve signs resemble the Mighty Mississippi River. When that occurs, I switch to the alert mode and cautious is my name. God's word contains promise passages to comfort me and commands to follow. Along the way, the LORD posted signs of warning.

"The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward (Psalm 19:9-11 NIV)." God's word is not a bitter pill to swallow. Instead, it is sweet and valuable. His warnings may also appear as detours or stop signs in my journey; they lead to my reward!
