Shield of Authority
by PamFord Davis

I am an old "Dragnet" fan. Yes, that does date me as being old but I can take the heat. Visualize Sgt. Friday with his partner at his side. They walk up an apartment building hallway; after reaching the apartment number they seek, they knock on the door.

The resident opens the door and Sgt. Friday introduces himself and partner. As he does, he shows his shield. The badge gives him the authority he needs to question a witness or suspect. With confidence, he pockets his badge.

"The nobles of the peoples have assembled [with] the people of the God of Abraham. For the leaders [*shields] of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted (Psalm 47:9 HCS)." Exalt the name of Jesus!

Religious leaders questioned His authority. (Mark 11:28-33) He has all authority. "Then Jesus came near and said unto them, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18 HCS)."
