Deserted Island and Garden
by PamFord Davis

I unashamedly watch Gilligan's Island reruns. Recently, a network has been showing several episodes that I don't remember seeing. Why do I watch? Why not, it's funny. I have not overlooked the obvious similarities between the Skipper, Gilligan and Laurel and Hardy.

You have to admit the physical likeness and actions of Skipper and Gilligan mirror those of the other comic team. Take a closer look and see for yourself. As to my believing Gilligan's island was deserted, a simple "not" will suffice.

At the time of Jesus' arrest, in the Garden of Gethsemane, his disciples feared their own arrests and persecution. "At that point, all the disciples deserted him and fled (Matthew 26:56b Living Bible)." In mercy, he forgave them. Following his resurrection, they followed him faithfully.
