Old and Decrepit
by PamFord Davis

It is a cruel awakening for many; we carefully move stiffened bodies from bed each morning. Shuffling our feet, we make our way to the bathroom and get first glimpses of ourselves in mirrors. Yikes, I'm old and decrepit! When did that happen? Don't even go there; I can guess by now you are way too eager to respond. Old is not only a 'state of mind.' It's a state of progressive deterioration.

"Don't throw me away just because I am old. Don't leave me as I lose my strength (Psalm 71:9 ERV)." There are dangers in living in a disposable generation. We must never fear God's casting us aside as we age. "Now that I am old and my hair is gray, don't leave me, God. I must tell the next generation about your power and greatness (Psalm 71:18 ERV)." I may not be as flexible as when young but I am still spry enough to shake a leg and increase my stride with the Savior.
