Test Our Wings
by PamFord Davis

"I'll Fly Away" is a Southern Gospel classic.

Writer, 'Albert E. Brumley' composed the popular song in 1929. We all tend to look for ways of escape from trouble. Finding ourselves in less than desirable situations, we want to distance ourselves.

Such emotions are nothing new. We prefer life in the comfort zone.

Yet, in reality we spend a great deal of time in stressful circumstances. Bills have to be paid; we face health problems and relationships become strained. Sorrow does not discriminate.

Many that we love die, leaving us lonely. We test our wings....

"I said, 'If only I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and find rest. How far away I would flee; I would stay in the wilderness. I would hurry to my shelter from the raging wind and the storm (Psalm 55:6-8 HCS)."
