A True Friend Indeed
by Olawale Ogunsola

Your Friend Indeed.
I love to be with aged people because they have a lot to share from years of experience.
Grey hair is a symbol of wisdom.

On April 12, 2014, I visited a retired teacher whose fellowship inspires me greatly. He was happy, as usual, to see me.

Pa Moses A. Oyedokun, a christian indeed, did not waste time to tell me that April 12 is his birthday and he clocked age 79 on April 12, 2014. He joyfully asked me to pray for him which I gladly did.

A few minutes later, he recited a poem [he could not recall the name of the author] thus:

PEOPLE OF THE WORLD.
Gazing along the long wide road,
People will talk of you.

Be audacious or considerate,
People will talk of you.

If you wear the richest robe in the world,
People will talk of you.

Let all your clothes be all rags,
Still, people will talk of you.

Be helpless, hopeless, sad and alone,
People will still talk of you.

And when yourr voice is lost in death,
People will still talk of you.

Oh, these people of the world,
I don't know which friend to be trusted.

I have trusted many to my sorrow,
For today they cry "Hossana";
Tomorrow, they cry "crucify him".

When he finished, we agreed that as a christian, it is possible to influence what "people of the world" will say, to a resonable extent.

We concluded on the words of Prophet Micah in chapter7:5-7,y
"Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bossom.

For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me." (King James Version).t
