Joy In The Closet
by Buife Nomeh

Have you ever wondered what makes you glow and tick, even more than time? You know that stuff you do or the person(s) that tend to make you really happy when you are engaged with them? Is it friends, family members, colleagues at work, your job or business?

Have you ever wondered what your days will turn to should you look for them someday and find out they are gone? Have you?

It is so easy to circle our lives and build it upon fleeting things. We place our hopes in man, depending and trusting that they'll never fail. 'Whoa!, the cheques are coming in real fat these days - no more rainy days y'all' - we think.

Why are you thriving? Oh wait, you are in the midst of friends who are completely sold out to Jesus. What if they were taken away from you? Will you still be able to stand for Christ? Are you all about co-operate anionting, always waiting to hear what the Lord has sent someone to tell you?

These things do fail. Family members, friends, colleagues; they all do grow apart. Distance may come in-between your christian friends and you. When they do, what shall be your lot?

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My Name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. - John 16:24, KJV.

Listen, it is good to have fellowship with christians. It is a beautiful thing - family. And if your business and/or job is bringing in the money, you gotta thank the Lord. But there is more; when everything is done, it all boils down to one thing - your fellowship with God, your relationship with Jesus.

We all have a direct access to God in Christ; every believer does. You gotta make use of it. You gotta ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you; yes, you. He gave Himself on the cross that you and I may have life in abundance not live by the abundance of others or our vocation.

You are in Christ and Christ is in you. When you dig in and start doing your part to make your relationship with God thrive, you will find that every other thing is primarily secondary. You will find that should anything happen to keep you away from these other things, as long as you still have God, you still have everything.

What does this knowledge bring? - Joy. Inexplicable joy. You've got to let yourself experience the kind of joy that Jesus wants each of us to have in Him. Not sure what to ask for; the indwelling and leading of the Holy Spirit will make a great start.

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. - Romans 8:26, KJV.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. - Romans 8:14, KJV.
