A Great Longing
by PamFord Davis

Loneliness is an epidemic in our facilities housing the elderly.

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention is not giving news briefings to alert the populace; yet, it is growing at an alarming rate. The management and staff of the highest ranked assisted living and convalescent homes do strive to meet the physical needs of residents.

They cannot alleviate emotional longing within hearts of the lonely.

Paul longed for his friends from Philippi.

"For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:8 NAS)."

Even the lonely find comfort in the knowledge of the LORD Gods' great 'longing' to bless His children.

"Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who long for Him (Isaiah 30:18 NAS)."
