Inventory
by PamFord Davis

It is an otherwise mundane word throughout the year; yet, at the targeted date 'inventory' becomes mind-boggling. Management and staff have the daunting task of itemizing everything in their factory or store. As a follower of Jesus involved in a writing ministry, I need to take daily inventory of words I speak and write.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight,
O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer (Psalms 19:14 NKJ)."

Each of us is apt to speak far more than we listen. When speaking, we have many words from which to choose. I know the Holy Spirit is ready, willing and able to guide us through an inventory of encouraging and edifying words. I want to be discerning and wise, pulling hurtful words from off the shelves, removing them from my inventory.
