Can I Get a Witness?
by PamFord Davis "Can I get a witness?" Pastors frequently wonder if their messages are falling upon deaf ears. Looking out across the congregation, they view blank expressions. Minds flutter from one idea to the next as bees seeking pollen. It's ironic, sweetness drips as honey from a preacher's lips. Yearning for early benediction and first place in a restaurant buffet line, members of the congregation eye their watches. "Can I get a witness?" Yes! A multitude of witnesses applauds and encourages all who share the gospel. "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJ)."
