Making a Spectacle of Yourself
by PamFord Davis

"Quit making a spectacle of yourself!"

Maybe high school classmates voted you class clown or you have earned a reputation as the center of attraction at a party. Some have thought of you as outgoing and entertaining; yet, others had the opinion that you were simply embarrassing yourself. If related to you or close friends, they were embarrassed to be in your company.

As a Christ follower, should I avoid making a spectacle of myself?

Alternatively, should I instead be concerned because I am 'not?'

"For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised (1 Corinthians 4:9-10 KJV)."
