A Fisherman
by Cyril Almond

If we look in Luke chapter 22. verses 60=62. We can see a moment when a loyal disciple of Jesus denied him. Jesus had already forewarned him that Satan desired to sift him.. In verse 31. Jesus said to Peter. Simon, Simon, indeed Satan has asked for you that he may sift you as wheat.

In verse 54.. Then having arrested him they brought him unto the high priest. Peter stood at a distance. In the following verse we Peter denying Jesus three times. not only that on the last of those three occasions he swore.

Now I come from a deep sea fishing family and I can tell you that when they use foul language it really is as foul as it gets.

Then as Jesus had told Peter, the cock crowed. Jesus then turned to look at Peter, in that look was all the fruits of the Holy Spirit. This broke Peter and he wept bitterly.

His cries were heard in heaven and that was the start of a new phase in Peters life. God sees the beauty of a broken heart and that is when he can use you. When we really cry out to God in such a manner, then self has gone out the way.

Peter went on to be used by God in a wonderful way. The way he addressed the Jews in Acts chapter 4. He pulled no punches when spoke in a manner that pricked their conscience. They had heard of the miracle of acts 3 verse 6. When Peter said silver and Gold I do not have. But what I do have I give you. in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk

Acts chapter 5. There is Peter again with Ananias and Sapphira. When he challenged them about the lie they had said about the money they had brought. The Holy Spirit revealed to him about this lie. Then he promouned their death and the gravity of testing the Holy Spirit.

Then of course in Acts chapter 2. We see his involvement in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He also preached and three thousand souls were saved.

Now that is what I call a complete turn around in Peters life. All because of a look. Jesus would give us that same look Anybody up for this?. I know I am.
