Dressed and Ready
by Jennifer Champion

No on this earth knows the day and time that Jesus Christ will return. There are many that prophesize about his second coming but Jesus himself told that he will come at an unexpected time and that we must be ready.

You must also be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Luke 12:40 NIV)
The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. (Luke 12:46 NIV)

Jesus is telling us three things in these statements:
1. He is coming.
2. We won't know when.
3. We had better be ready.

What can we do now to make sure we are ready when he comes? First, we are to be sincere and not hypocritical. (Luke 12:1-3) Second, we are to be ready to witness and never fearful. (Luke 12:4-9). Third, we are to trust in him and never worry. (Luke 12:25-26) Fourth, we are to be generous and not greedy. (Luke 12:34). Finally, we are to be diligent in the things we do for him and not lazy. (Luke 12:37).

Today, we should each look at ourselves and ask if we are being the sincere, witnessing, trusting, generous, and diligent followers of Jesus Christ that he commands us to be so that when he arrives we will be dressed and ready. If there is an area or areas we are lacking in our preparation for the Lord, let us recognize it honestly and seek to correct it immediately.
