Bite Size Morsels
by PamFord Davis

I'm a lover of words, quotes and idioms. At times, I admittedly 'bite off more than I can chew.' I do not refer to food consumption.

Instead, I take too much upon myself and become overwhelmed, stressed and panic prone. When writing devotions, I select bite size morsels.

Judgmental prone, Elihu, one of Job's friends, shared his personal opinion about the cause of Job's suffering; he also rebuked others for their words to Job. He served up a self-righteous portion of words with a side order to chew on.

"Hear my words, O ye wise men, and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge. For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat (Job 34:2-3 Scoffield Bible)."

When listening to criticism, we need God's gift of discernment. We grow in wisdom and faith when meditating on the meat of God's word.
