Love Extinguisher!
by Olawale Ogunsola

The Law Enforcement Agents are never Kind to vehicle owners who do not carry Fire extinguishers in their vehicles. It is in the interest of the owners and the society. A man lost his car to fire because he did not have any in his car to quench the little fire that started with a little spark.
So it is wisdom to have one in your vehicle.

In relationships, it is sad that some people carry with them an unusual 'weapon' that I call 'Love Extinguisher' . What is the common name for this, you may wonder? It is NAGGING!

Nagging extinguishes love. It turns a relationship to be celebrated to become a tolerated one. The Lord lamented over His people with whom He wanted a celebrated affair,
'How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me?' (Numbers 14:27)

Every relationship needs to be nursed and nurtured so that 'Love never fails' will firmly hold; but Love Extinguisher does otherwise.

A man, a few months ago left home for his place of work in Ibadan, Nigeria, West Africa, in the morning but did not come back home until the fourth day. He did not call nor tell his wife he was not coming home. When the wife told me on the third day, I called him on phone and he promised to be at home the following day.

The first question I asked the wife was 'What did you say that he left the home for you to care for three children?'

She said,

I then warned her that she should use 'positive reinforcement' to welcome him back home. No query, no condemnation, no accusation , no, nothing to drive him away again.

When the man came back, the wife welcomed him warmly. Instead of nagging, she showed some concerns for him.

After she had prepared a delicious meal which was followed by a warm bath, the man patiently explained the events that culminated in his absence from home for those four days.

However, provocative, insulting and other nagging statements could not do this.

Have you ever come across Proverbs 14:1?
Yes or No, it reads:
'Every wise woman buildeth her house:
but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.' (King James Version).

There is no gainsaying the fact that an effective and efficient tool to pull down a matrimonial home ditto any relationship is NAGGING. The wise never employ it.

Do you know that Love Extinguisher was one of the major reasons Michal, daughter of Saul was barren for ever? Read what she said when she saw her husband, King David rejoicing before the Lord, his God,
'How glorious was the King of Isreal today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself" (That is II Samuel 6:20).

If Nagging does not build a home, I am sure it will not build any relationship but destroy it. How do you feel when someone nags at you? Is it the same when someone shows some concern to you and cares for you? Go and do what you expect others to do to you.

Let me state here that, Love Extinguisher is not an exclusive weapon reserved for women. Men are also involved in using it, although it is more common with women.

Do you want your relationship to flourish? Don't carry about any Love Extinguisher into your home or any relationship.

The wise never employ it.
