Receive your Spiritual Gift
by Yvette Nietzen

1 Corinthians 12:31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.

You see those great men and women of God flowing in anointing, revelation and power of the Holy Spirit, and you yearn to flow in that same anointing. You want to preach like them, receive revelation like them and pray like them.

The question is, how do you receive that power and anointing? How can you flow as they do, and how can you be like them, or better?

It starts with one word. Desire.

If you desire a spiritual gift, you have every right as a child of God to ask and receive. The scripture is clear: John 16:24 says "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

After receiving your gift, is like a seed. It will be in soil where you will not see it and where it is hidden. It is here that the gift will be watered and cared for by the word of God. It will be cared for with your prayers and spending time in the presence of the Lord. You nurture for your gift, much like a woman cares for her unborn child in the womb.

What the Lord has given you has the potential of becoming a large oak tree.

After spending time watering and cultivating your gift, you will notice that your seed has begun to sprout. You will become aware that you are flowing in a way that you never did before. You will see that your prayers have been turned up a notch, and little by little, you begin to flow in an anointing that you have never experienced before.

This is only the beginning! It is in this stage that your gift will continue to develop. One cannot skip the route we all go through called growth.

Do you desire a spiritual gift? Do you long to flow in a greater anointing? The choice is yours. If you desire a spiritual gift, ask and God will deposit the seed for you. It would be up to you to cultivate it, care for it and water it.

Protect your gift. Make sure the soil does not dry up and cause the plant to die.
