A Bullet For Procrastination
by Olawale Ogunsola Have you heard this expression "Procrastination is the thief of time. " before? Do you agree that it is true? Yes, it is. It is a monster that is more dangerous than you can ever imagine. Procrastination steals destiny in bits as it destroys a purpose little by little. This monster will keep your focus on the whole but will waste the bits that make the whole. What do I mean? If you have a purpose to accomplish, this monster will tell you that "you still have time, why don't you do it tomorrow, next week or simply, next time?". Any agreement to this suggestion will surely weaken your desire and keep you busy on less important things. Before you realise it, other things will take over the time procrastination had suggested. That is one way it steals seconds, minutes, hours and, sometimes, days. As a result of its activities, lots of glory are resting in the grave; many good visions never see the light of the day. So many Godly ideas failed because of procrastination. They have been overtaken by times and events. Do you know that the sole reason many people are poor today is that this monster remains their ruler? Otherwise, they would have risen above their negative predicament but they heed the whispering voice says "do it another time". A sincere and careful study of your life will reveal that you have been a victim of procrastination at one time or the other because you failed to achieve what was necessary. It is also possible that you have missed "golden opportunities" because of this ravenous enemy that works in silence. The question now is "what shall we do?" The effective and unfailing bullet to destroy procrastination is "DO IT NOW!" This three words are the right ones that can totally eliminate the enemy of your destiny. See "NOW" as the ONLY time you have to act right to achieve what you desire to do. Never allow NEXT TIME. to prevail at any time. Why? Next Time or Tomorrow may never come. What procrastination calls "Tomorrow" may be late, and it had always be. A man of God, who understands the evil inherent in procrastination, carries the solution further when he decided to introduce VERY URGENT into his life. What is VERY URGENT? Everything worth doing and every good idea conceived. One day, a friend of this man of God asked for reasons he will always see or handles things with VERY URGENT. His answer was "You cannot say how soon it will be TOO late.". Do you know what? He had "contaminated" everyone around him with this VERY URGENT philosophy? Whenever he gives an instruction, he never fails to include these two words. So everybody around him cannot accommodate procrastination. No room at all for it. Let me bring this to a close with the story of a retired Head teacher. This woman confessed one day that procrastination had impoverished her for thirty years. How? She disclosed that she was instructed by God to establish a Children school when in government service but did not. After retirement, the same message kept coming but took no action. Instead, she opened a small shop to sell fruit drinks which did not flourish. Finally, an evangelist was instructed to ensure that this woman established a school. After much pressure, she agreed to take action. Within three months it was established, God provided a bus to convey numerous pupils to and fro their homes. It is still flourishing. The school now operates on its permanent site. The woman later lamented that she had been a loser because of procrastination. Now and forever, shoot procrastination dead with DO IT NOW. Stay blessed and rapturable; Jesus is coming back soon! Are you prepared to meet Him ? Begin now! Note.
