Don't Feed the Animals
by PamFord Davis

I have not sought out the details and repercussions on a current news story; yet, I'm appalled after reading the headlines and seeing a snapshot. It's illegal to feed the homeless.

Wait a minute. When did we start treating people like caged animals in a zoo? Will we be seeing stop signs in city parks, under bridges and in alleys? 'Don't feed the homeless.'

That is cruel and inhumane punishment. I'm guessing that someone in authority decided if the homeless are being fed by good Samaritans, they will not move on to greener pastures.

The Lord of creation invites all to rest in greener pastures. (Psalm 23) Merciful Jesus has gone to prepare a 'home' for us in the Father's house. Ironically, Jesus had no place to rest his head.

"Jesus told him, 'Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head (Matthew 8:20 HCS)."
