Making Melodies and Memories
by PamFord Davis

Each Christmas, we sing-along to our favorite carols.

Subconsciously we hum, tap our fingers on a table or feet on the floor. We enjoy the melody, unaware that we are making memories. It's Christmas; don't worry if you don't sing like Caruso.

"Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise (Psalms 98:4 KJV)."

Songs frequently trigger memories of loved ones and days gone by. Why suppress the memories?

My husband serves as a church music director; I cannot count the times I've heard him ask the standard question when seeking volunteers.

"Do you sing solos?"

To which someone responds, "So low no one can hear me!"

Sing out; make a joyful noise. The LORD is listening.
