Hearing is One Thing but Believing Is another Thing
by Henry Miranda

Mark 9:23 (KJV)
"23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth."

During Jesus lifetime, there were many people who did not believe in Him. Even though he was performing miracles in front of their eyes. Believing is difficult because what it takes for a person to believe is based entirely on the conditional response of that person. Jesus would ask people to believe in Him so he could perform their miracle.

The thing for us to remember is that all things are possible if you believe in Jesus. The answer to our prayers requires that we simply believe. Jesus wants us to believe and trust in Him with all our hearts. For He takes joy in granting us the desires of our heart. Jesus will always see you through any situation. All you need to do is believe and have faith in whatever Situation comes your Way, Jesus has control of it.

All things are possible for those that believe, but most people would rather believe a lie and are fascinated with lies. We like fables and we listen to stories that are not true. But we like them because we want to believe what is being said. Believing is to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the real ability of something, although without absolute proof.

Many Christians are fine with hearing God's word and even study it. But many have a difficult time with believing it. I think we are able to tell that we truly believe God's word by the way that it takes shape in our lives, and by the transformation of our hearts and mind. We actively move from simply listening to believing.

Some people tell us things that are too hard for us to believe. It's one thing to hear about something and another to believe it. It's one thing to hear the gospel another to choose to reject it.

When Paul gave his testimony to King Agrippa, the King listened carefully to what Paul was saying and liked it. But the King like most people reject the gospel. People don't want to surrender to Christ. They like what they are hearing, but are hard-pressed to believe it because they don't want to change their lifestyle.

You have to believe in God and in who He is and that he can do whatever he says he would do. Only by believing, are all things currently available to those that believe. For there is nothing impossible for God. Take a miracle for example. If it didn't happen to you, you would be hard-pressed to believe it.

All things are possible if you will believe Jesus. For when you believe in Jesus you surrender your free will completely over to him. You acknowledge your complete trust in Him as your Lord and Savior.

Once you have a personal relationship with Jesus through prayer and the Word, it becomes easier every day to trust and believe Him. The more time that you spend with Him the more you believe and trust Him. God created us to have fellowship with Him and wants us to love Him continuously. And when we do this God fulfills the desires of our hearts.

Mark 16:15-18 (NKJV)
"And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, an
