Birth Announcement Messengers
by PamFord Davis

I vividly remember my excitement following the birth of my two children. At my first opportunity, I sent out birth announcements. The arrivals of our dainty daughter April and chunky son Lee were big news.

Mary and Joseph were not the first to announce the birth of baby Jesus. The heralding fell to humble shepherds. Follow the sacred events through the scripture passages and ponder how the LORD might use you as a birth announcement messenger

"When the angels had left them and returned to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, 'Let's go straight to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us (Luke 2:15 HCS)."

In the next verse, we see the drama unfolding

"They hurried off and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in a feeding trough (Luke 2:16 HCS)."

The trough held bread of life food for the perishing. The shepherds could not keep the news to themselves!

"After seeing [them], they reported the message they were told about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them (Luke 2:17-18 HCS)."
