Jesus' Birthday Celebration, Does He Enjoy It?
by Tesse Wilson

It is said that Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus the Saviour
So Jesus decided to observe silently as many made plans to celebrate His birthday
The stores were filled with merchandise of every kind
The streets were busy with shoppers and delivery trucks
There were packed out Christmas Dinners and Luncheons but many empty pews
There was a hustle and a bustle
Housecleaning and painting, lots of spending and exchanging of gifts
Beautiful decorations
Jesus was happy about the spirit of giving, sharing and love that seem to abound more at this time of year
He was happy to see families spending time with each other, helping each other with the household chores
He loved the happy look on the faces of children when they opened their presents
He was overjoyed that many remembered the orphans and the widows
He was pleased to see the homeless and prisoners being given a lovely meal
But of most interest to Him was what was going on in the heart
So He came knocking upon the doors of hearts wanting to come in
To bring a greater blessing to those who were busy making plans to celebrate Him
Few answered
Some were too busy with the cares of this life
Others were exhausted from the hustle of the season
There was no room left for Him, no time for Him
With all the loud music and cheer many could not hear Him knocking and calling
He wondered how anyone could celebrate His birthday without Him
Is it me or is it another Jesus some are celebrating?
Many celebrate His birthday without really knowing Him
Knowing what He is like, what does He like and what are the things that pleases Him
He desires more than a mere influence upon those who dont know Him
He wants to give the gift of salvation to them

Friends, there are some things that we do and engage in that does not please Him
Drunkenness and gluttony does not please Him
Covetousness and selfishness does not please Him
Pretending to love and care does not please Him
Giving with the wrong motive does not please Him
Competing with your neighbor does not please Him
Friends, lets eat and be happy because He has given us all things to enjoy
But avoid excesses and the wantonness of the flesh
Believers in Christ -Be Self Controlled
Let us continue to walk in the Spirit and we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh

Jesus is more than a man; He is God
So the greatest act of celebration is to worship Him
We must bow our hearts in submission, surrender our wills to Him
Put on the ornament of meekness and,
Diffuse the fragrance of the knowledge of His love everywhere we go

The best gift we can give Him after considering what He has done
In laying down His life for us
Is living our lives for Him
Living;
A life spent for Him in service
A life that glorifies Him in daily living
A life that pleases Him, walking by faith
A life that brings no reproach to His Name
For the kingdom is God is not eating and drinking but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit
