The Inheritence

Through a lifetime of sweat & tears , diligence & perseverance, sacrifice & pain, weathering dangers & loses, persecutions & trials he amassed great wealth, more than one could begin to imagine. At the end of his days, his life nearly spent & his energy exhausted his overseer questioned him saying "Sir, why did you expend yourself so ? Why did you not stop & rest & partake of the fruits of your labor ? You possess all things & all things are under your authority, why then have you labored yourself all these years even to the point of death ?" To which the master replied " It is true what you say, for I have indeed labored more than any man so that now I possess all things, yes & even the whole world. Many have sought this quest & they did not succeed because they did so to spend it upon their own glory & pleasures. I did not do this to spend it upon myself you see. Then would not my kingdom, my legacy, my name have been spent & surely come to an end. Mine however, will live on because I give it away as an inheritance to my children. For whatever a man keeps to himself also ends with himself, but that which he gives does not end & in this he is blessed. Here then my servant is the inheritance which I have prepared & at the proper time you shall give it to my children." At last the master died. Then after the time of mourning had passed a multitude of his children assembled together. The master you see, had many children by many wives so that they could not agree over their birthright. They argued over who was the first, over who was most favored, over who was greatest & they could not agree. There arose a great division so the overseer stood up & instructed them saying " Indeed the inheritance is yours but your father has charged me saying "Give these my children their inheritance only when they have come to their senses (for he knew very well the hearts of men). But do not judge among them nor make any distinction & do not apportion the inheritance until they all come to the unity of a common bond, laying aside their own selfish interests their own self gain & considering one another as more important than themselves. For until this is accomplished in them they will keep the inheritance unto themselves & there will my kingdom, my legacy, & my name come to an end. For that which a man keeps unto himself also ends with himself & he shall suffer loss, but that which a man gives to another will not come to an end & in this he lives on. For indeed, it is more blessed to give than to receive." Then the overseer understood, the true inheritance which the master had purposed to pass on was not at all in all these things, but rather all along it was the very character of the man. Psm 22:30 Posterity will serve Him: future generations will be told about the Lord. They will proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn for He has done it.
