Solitude and Gratitude
by PamFord Davis

It's flu season and a wide-spread-outbreak is moving across our nation. At the onset of flu or respiratory infections, the ailing visits their family physicians. The doctor advices bed rest and the drinking of fluids. Before leaving the examination room, the health provider frequently writes out a prescription for an antibiotic to be filled by the patient's druggist.

Jesus prescribed prayer. We fill His prescription in solitude and gratitude.

"Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. I assure you: They've got their reward! But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you (Matthew 6:5-6 HCS)."
