Open Hands
by Steve Countryman

You can't receive anything given you without an open hand. Your Father in heaven wants to bless you and give you blessings but you must be willing to receive them with open hands.

A close hand represents a close mind and a closed heart. Those who will not accept or receive because of anger, bitterness, un-forgiveness or hatred that they are holding onto with clinched fists. Others who have believed the lies of the enemy that they are not worthy of anything good. So they don't even bother to offer their hands at all. Then still others who through their selfish and self centered ways will not receive anything that doesn't come their way. They will only receive it on their terms. Being closed handed or tight fisted can also represent a stubborn hard hearted person.

Open hands represents an open heart and receptive mind to the things of God. Someone who is willing to receive and be open to whatever God has for them. Being receptive to the leading of the Holy Spirit's guidance and counsel. Someone who is willing to allow God to mold and shape their lives into a living vessel to hold and spill His glory. Those who can accept revelation as revelation. With open hands raised do we offer our praise and worship to our God. With open hands raised do we surrender our lives to Him. With open hands do we let God pour in His awesome love.

An open hand shows honesty of nothing hidden. No hidden weapons, no hidden agendas, no surprises just an open honest relationship. An open hand acknowledges a need and makes a request for help. Also with an open hand are you able to give or bless others.

A person cannot be lead who doesn't want to with a closed hand. They will struggle and fight all attempts to help guide them. But with an open hand you take the open hand offered you. When you fall Father God is there to help you up if you will offer Him your open hand. Most people are more interested in what others can do for them including God. They are only looking for a hand out to get them by not a hand up to get them through. If you will admit that you need His help and you're willing to obey and follow Him, He is always available and willing to offer a hand up instead of a hand out.

With my open hands raised I will praise and thank my Father God for taking my open hand in His!
