Heartbeat
by PamFord Davis

I consider the position and role of mother as one of the highest afforded by God. Approximately forty-five years ago, I birthed our two children; yet, with clarity, I easily recover memories of their infancy.

There are no words to express the bonding I experienced while cradling my newborn babies or nursing them at regular feedings. They could feel the steady beating of my heart just as they did within the womb. Contented and secure, they snuggled and drifted off to dreamland.

God desires closeness through relationship and draws me into His rest and contentment.

"There remains therefore a rest for the people of God (Hebrews 4:9 NKJ)."

I want to live so near to God, that I hear His heart beat out messages of comfort.

"Then you shall feed; on her sides shall you be carried, and be dandled on her knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you (Isaiah 66:12b-13a NKJ)."
