Dear God-tracker

GOD-TRACKING IS DELIGHTING IN GOD'S HIGHER THOUGHTS FOR YOU

This devotional is all about seeking and tracking the plans and purposes of God for our lives. The scripture tells us that God does indeed, have plans for our lives; plans for our good and a successful future. But it also says in the Bible that God's ways are not our ways. His ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. If this is true then the plans God has for us may not be at all like the plans we may have made for ourselves, yet they will always be perfect! Scripture also tells us that man makes his own plans but that it is the Lord who directs his steps. This is why we make it our premise to acknowledge the Lord in all our ways and trust him to direct our paths. This is what God-tracking is all about!

There was once a young Christian man who was very successful in business. Let's call him Colin. Colin was bold and forthright; making business plans mostly to his own benefit. As a believer he did know that God had a plan for his life but sadly he neglected to acknowledge the Lord in his business. Then one day calamity struck. His partner left and set up his own business in opposition to Colin's. He took several main clients along with him, which left Colin's business all but ruined. Alone and destitute, young Colin finally came to his senses and realised that he had excluded God from his plans. He understood that he had been making his plans and working by his own standards without seeking God's will. Colin prayerfully repented and invited his Lord into every aspect of his life. Shortly afterwards a new opportunity opened for him in a new venture. Colin committed his work to the Lord and continued to seek first the kingdom and God and God's purposes in every opportunity rather than his own selfish desires. He was soon in a far better position than before. God had brought Colin out of a place of selfish ambition and into a spacious place of blessing because his delight was now in God.

Your Lord may be asking you to make some radical changes in life. It could be you feel the nudge of the Holy Spirit to move into a new venture or close the door on an old opportunity, even if it means moving headlong into the unknown. Alternatively, you could be reading this thought today thinking, that's me. I am just like Colin. I have been doing things my way instead of God's way by excluding him from my business, my career or my marriage. If so then take this moment to humbly acknowledge that God's ways may be very different to your ways but that they are always far greater and far more beneficial to all concerned. Take a moment to acknowledge the Lord in all you do and then trust him to direct your life's paths. I dare say you will be pleasantly surprised!

God-tracking is delighting in God's higher thoughts for you.

Thank you for your plans for my life. Help me to seek and track your will at every turn

"Sovereign Lord, I realise that your thoughts are higher than my thoughts and your ways are greater than my ways. I am sorry for always doing things my selfish way. Today I open my life, my work and my relationships to your purposes. I choose to verbally acknowledge you in all my ways and I put my confidence in you to direct my paths. I believe that your plans are good and prosperous. I believe that your ways are wholesome and beneficial. Thank you for your plans for my life. Help me to seek and track your will at every turn. Amen"
