God Calls Christian Man, Woman to Marry and Serve as Missionaries

Gavin's goal was to work for the Lord as a short-term missionary on a long-term basis.

"I plan to use one of my vacation weeks every year for a short term missions project," Gavin told George, his supervisor at work.

"By the time I retire from my job, I will have gone on more than 40 trips. I want to take personally Jesus' command in Matthew chapter 28, "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Gavin's first mission trip was to the beautiful island nation of Jamaica. "That was one of the most satisfying weeks of my life," he told Ginger, his girlfriend. "It was thrilling to share the gospel of Jesus with the Jamaican people. Several of them asked Jesus to forgive their sins and come live in their hearts."

"Where do you plan to go on your mission trip next year?" asked Ginger.

"Haiti. The Lord wants me to evangelize the small towns and villages."

Gavin's dedication to his mission work was having a positive impact on Ginger. "The Lord has shown a couple of things to me," she announced.

"What sorts of things?"

"He's shown me He wants me to become personally involved in missions work."

"That's absolutely wonderful."

"He has also shown me that you and I are to be married."

"Wow! God showed the same thing to me last night in a dream. He promised we would team up to win many souls for Him. Since God has told both of us He wants us to be married, I'm officially asking you to marry me. Will you give me the honor of being my wife?"

"Certainly. I automatically fell in love with you as soon as God said it was His will for us to marry. Let's get married two months from tomorrow.

"Super! That's my birthday. Marrying you on my birthday will be the best birthday present ever."

"I have an idea. Let's take my parents out to dinner tomorrow evening. They are not Christians, and we can talk to them about the Lord."

"Great! That can be our first missionary journey as a couple!"
