4 Tips To Make Bible Time Fun for Kids
by Patricia Coldiron

You want your kids to know and love God, and making Bible time fun gives them something to look forward to. Sharing this family time draws the family closer together with each other and with God.

Here are 4 tips to make Bible time fun for kids:

Set Aside a Specific Time

Select a time that fits everyone's needs and stick to it. Reading Bible stories at bedtime works well because kids are usually more relaxed and winding down before going to sleep. You may choose to read these stories as part of your family devotional time.

Use Age Appropriate Bible

You can buy age appropriate Bibles for toddlers, that feature simple stories with colorful pictures to look at. Kids in the toddler age group enjoy learning about Jonah and the Whale, Noah and the Ark, and David and Goliath. Mom or Dad can read these stories, or you can buy an audio version with narration. Older children also enjoy these simple stories.

Everyone Participates

Get each family member involved by asking questions. This is also a good opportunity to discuss the message of the Bible story and how we can use these lessons in our daily life. Each child can take a turn reading the story.

Craft Time

After reading a Bible story, schedule a craft time. Kids love to build things, so let them have fun by making the Bible come alive. Paper plates can be cut in half and glued together to form the ark. Play dough keeps little hands busy making different animals to put in the ark.

I have always felt called to write for God, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others.

After many years in the corporate world, I am living my dream of writing full-time.
